The New Ford Expedition or Expedition Max: Which is Right for You?

There are many reasons that drivers in the Rockford, MI area are well-served by the new Ford Expedition. This vehicle has the performance and convenience features needed by today's families. What not everyone realizes, however, is that there is also an Expedition Max to consider. So how are these SUVs the same, and how do they differ? More importantly, which is best suited for your Comstock Park area family.

Interior Space

Both versions of the Expedition are spacious. The Expedition Max, however, has a longer wheelbase, resulting in even more space than the standard model. Both versions have room for up to eight people, depending on the trim level. Second-row captain's chairs, available for both versions of the Expedition, reduce seating capacity to seven. Legroom remains more or less the same between the Expedition and Expedition Max.

The cargo hold is where you will find the significant difference here. While the standard Expedition has room for 20.9 cubic feet behind the third row, the Expedition Max goes up to 36 cubic feet. When you fold down the back two rows, the Expedition will give you 104.6 cubic feet, which is more than enough for many drivers in Ada Township. Want even more? The Expedition Max has a whopping 121.5 cubic feet with the back seats down.

Performance

Engines remain consistent between the two versions of the Expedition. Standard is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 that can generate 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. For the top-of-the-line Platinum model, power is upped to 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. A ten-speed automatic is also standard across the board.

Where you will find a difference, however, is in towing capacity. Properly equipped models with the standard wheelbase can tow up to an impressive 9,300 pounds. Going with the Max model drops this slightly to 9,000 pounds.
