The Grand Rapids Haul is a Pleasure Cruise in the New Ford Ranger

There are new mid-size pickups, and then there's the new Ford Ranger. Back from the hiatus it took in 2011, in trims from XL and XLT to Lariat, it's bigger on capability, safety features, accommodations, and tech than a lot of other new trucks out there. Take a ride here at Tony Betten & Sons Ford in Grand Rapids, and you'll see what we mean!

Performance

First of all, every Ford Ranger comes "Built Ford Tough," with a rugged body-on-frame construction composed of high-strength-steel. Secondly, it houses a workhorse turbocharged 270-horsepower, 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine producing 310 pound-feet of torque. Thirdly, paired with a standard 10-speed auto transmission, you can expect excellent fuel economy. That's up to 21 mpg in a city like Rockford, 26 mpg on the highway to Comstock Park, and 23 mpg combined between Ada Township and Michigan beyond, according to EPA estimates.

Capabilities

Even better, Ford Ranger is as dependable across diverse terrain as it is powerful and efficient. That's thanks, in part, to an optional 4x4 drivetrain with a locking rear differential and an available Terrain Management System with gravel, grass, snow, mud/ruts, and sand modes. However, it also owes to an available low-speed cruise control-simulating Trail Control system. The results of it all are a 1,860-pound max payload rating in SuperCab 4x2 and a max tow rating of 7,500 pounds. Hauling a pallet of building materials, tools and outboard equipment, a couple of dirt bikes, an ATV, or even a second car has never been easier.

Safety

Best of all, Ford Ranger is committed to your driving security. Ford Co-Pilot360, our brand's proprietary driver-aid suite, comes standard, with auto high-beams, blind-spot monitoring, a pre-collision assist system, auto emergency brakes, lane-keeping, and a rear-view camera. Plus, options abound. They span the gamut from adaptive cruise control, cross-traffic alert, and pedestrian detection to a driver alert system, forward collision warning, and more. There's even a trailer monitor for added hauling safety.

Interior and Technology

The mobile-office possibilities in Ford Ranger are just the finishing touches. Choose between cloth and leather seating. Opt for 4.2-inch SYNC or with 8-inch SYNC 3 infotainment, the latter with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Take advantage of available voice-activated and crowd-sourced Waze nav options. Go for Ford+Alexa interoperability. Stay connected to the Web via FordPass Connect Wi-Fi. Entertain yourself via an optional 675-watt Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with ten speakers. However you equip your Ford Ranger, you'll be in for a memorable ride.
